Rules & Conditions
1) General
- Directors must be of Asian origin and come from South Asia, China, Taiwan, Hong
Kong, Korea, Japan and the 10 Asean countries. Participants can submit no more than
5 proposals per person/production house.
- Each proposal is a one-off documentary.
- Archive footage should be kept to a minimum of below 7 mins.
- Duration of each story is 52 mins or 27 mins.
- Directors must present the proposal personally to the panel; no proxy allowed.
- Panel’s decision is final.
- All applications have to be sent with the sample/trailer tapes by post to the stated
address.
- Applications which are marked “private”, “confidential”
and/or are submitted on condition of confidence will not be accepted.
- All submissions will not be returned.
- Please print the application form upon completion and submit the hard copy (in triplicate),
together with your sample work.
- Submissions have to be in English.
2) Criteria of selection
We are looking for:
- an original story line of a topic or an unusual treatment of a common story.
- a story suitable for family viewing.
- a story that you believe the Asian and the international communities want to know
about.
- a story that will interest and excite Asian public broadcasters.
- a story that comes with a reasonable budget that matches the expected production
value of the documentary.
3) Editorial Control/Executive EP’ship
If you win the pitch, an EP will be assigned to you to work with you.
4) Copyright
Copyright of the programs will be owned by the broadcasters. You will receive
a share of the distribution revenue of your documentary after the cost of investments
has been recovered.

April 30
6) Other relevant information
The Asian Pitch will be held in Singapore at the end of July or early August
2010. All short-listed directors will be given a free economy class ticket and budget
for one-night’s accommodation. Any other additional costs/expenses will have
to be borne by the directors.
